At Bistro ‘67, we’re committed to making the dining experience of every guest, including our guests with food allergies, an exceptional one. That’s why we are able to provide information to help you make an informed menu selection.
Our goal is to provide details of which menu items contain the most common allergens and intolerances, based on our recipes and the information provided by our suppliers. We work to keep this information as up-to-date as possible, and suggest you check in with us in advance of your reservation or event. That way we can add a note to your reservation/ event details and share that information with the appropriate staff.
Because all of our dishes are prepared-to-order, our normal kitchen operations may involve shared cooking and preparation areas. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that any menu item can be completely free of allergens. Items cooked on our grill or in our fryer present a special risk for cross-contamination, so we are mindful of that when suggesting alternate menu choices.
Do you have procedures in place to minimize cross-contact in the kitchen?
Yes! When you tell your server that you have a food allergy, they will add this information to your order. This will alert the manager on duty/ executive chef that you have a food allergy and will trigger several processes, including ensuring all kitchen staff are aware of the allergy. All of our chefs have completed a food safety course, which includes basic information about food allergies, in addition to safe food handling practices.
Even with processes and procedures in place, we are mindful that we are a teaching facility and not an allergen-free facility. As such, we cannot guarantee that any item is free of any allergen. While we regret that this may disappoint some guests, we feel strongly about being transparent about what we can and cannot guarantee.
Who can I call if with questions regarding menu ingredients and/ or questions regarding allergies? And how quickly can you get back to me?
Please contact us online at email@example.com or by phone at 905-721-3312 (Tuesday – Friday between the hours of 11am – 8pm and Saturday between the hours of 3:00-7:00 p.m.) Depending on your question, we may need up to 2 business days to provide the answer.
What kind of oil do you use in your fryer?
We use liquid frying shortening (mixed canola and corn oil) in our fryers.
Do you have a separate fryer to avoid cross-contact of allergens?
NO – We do not have a separate fryer at this time. This means any food that is in the fryer can come in contact with most of the major allergens, including: wheat (and gluten), shellfish, dairy, soy, and egg.
PLEASE let us know in advance about your food allergy. Upon arrival, inform your server that you have a food allergy. If you have any questions about the menu, please ask to speak with the manager on duty and they will be sure to get the answer for you.
